Here’s a bit about my story with bread baking:
It’s been almost 15 years since I first baked my first loaf of whole wheat bread. I started with a bread machine my husband bought me as a gift for Mother’s day. I’ve always liked to cook and this was something that I was so excited to try. The bread turned out delicious and so much better than whole wheat bread from the grocery store.
At the time grinding my own wheat seemed like too much of a hassle, and I would use just regular store-bought whole wheat flour. I didn’t think there would be a difference in taste, until my friend Debbie, who had been baking bread for a few years, gave me some of her freshly ground whole wheat flour. Little did I know that my family and I would end up being so hooked on the smell and taste of homemade whole wheat bread using freshly ground whole wheat flour. The smell is heavenly and the taste irresistible! To my friend Debbie a warm “Thank You” for showing me that spending the extra minutes to grind my own wheat is truly worth it!
After that first loaf, I knew that baking bread for my family on a weekly basis would become a lifestyle for me–and I loved it! We invested in a bread mixer, a wheat grinder (of course!), and the necessary accessories needed to provide delicious bread for my family.
Now, after 15 years of baking bread, and reaping all the health benefits that come from eating fresh whole grains, I know that there’s no going back to purchasing bread at the grocery store. No other bread will taste as fresh and delicious as wholesome whole wheat bread baked right at home.
